General requirements
If you intend to visit Russia, you must bear in mind that:
- A visa to Russia must be applied for prior to your visit as it can not be obtained at the border
- Any Russian visa application must be accompanied by an official visa support document such as a voucher (for tourist visas) or an offical letter of invitation for any other type of visa.

The Embassy of the Russian Federation in Great Britain and Consulate General of the Russian Federation in Edinburgh will only be accepting visa application forms completed on-line on the special website of Consular Department of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation.
